Young triathlete with cerebral palsy creates race to help other kids with disabilities

Bailey Matthews, a nine-year-old boy with cerebral palsy, completed a triathlon last summer and is now trying to encourage others like him to do the same. He has teamed up with the athletic company, Hubb, to create the first “Be More Bailey Triathlon.” Participation was free this year and the family is hoping to organize a charity to continue the triathlon for future years as well as to raise money to help encourage more children to join the sport by providing them with the right equipment. Jews With Special Needs Prepare for a Rite of Passage

As a 13-year-old girl I just expected to have a bat mitzvah. I grew up Jewish and all of my family and Jewish friends had the same. For individuals with special needs, this is not always the case. Their unique needs can unfortunately hold them back from completing this milestone in their Jewish life. Dr. Mark Sandberg saw how this affected four of the residents at a residential program on Long Island and created a program for all four of them to be bar/bat mitzvahed.
