Non-Profit Benefiting Higher Education for Individuals with Down Syndrome Raises $100K on World Down Syndrome Day

The Austin, Texas based non-profit Ruby’s Rainbow, which gives scholarships to individuals with Down Syndrome to pursue higher education reached a huge milestone on March 21st. They announced on Facebook that due to the generosity of thousands of people they reached their goal of $100,000 for scholarships. The announcement coincided perfectly with World Down Syndrome Day. Ruby’s Rainbow was started by the Plachta family in honor of their now 6 year old daughter Ruby, who has Down Syndrome. In the past five years the foundation has given away nearly $300,000 worth of scholarships to more than 100 people across the country. Read the full news article here
