Walgreens Features Model with Down Syndrome

Walgreens picked up on the trend of Osh Kosh B’Gosh’s inclusive advertisements by having one of the two faces of their new Easter “dangler” be that of an adorable 7-year-old girl, Grace Driscoll, who has Downs Syndrome. Phil Caruso, a spokesperson for Walgreens, stated “this is probably the first time that they’ve (Walgreens) profiled someone with cognitive disabilities in recent memories.” The company wanted to create an inclusive advertisement and the image of Grace in which they chose felt “authentic” rather than “forced.” Although this is a first for Walgreens’ advertisements, Walgreens is known for being an equal opportunity employer hiring many people with disabilities throughout the years.
