A Broadway Hit, With an Autistic Math Whiz at Its Center

In this sound clip from Science Friday, actor Alex Sharp speaks about his role in the Broadway show The Curious Incident of the Dog at Night Time. Sharp plays a 15 year old math whiz, who is obsessed with spaceflight and black holes. Interestingly, it is never explicitly stated in the play that the character, Christopher Boone is on the autism spectrum. Sharp speaks about how he avoided clichés of the Autism Spectrum while bringing Christopher to light. In addition to Sharp, Michael Rosen, from Autism Speaks talks about how “autism friendly” performances can be a great experience for those on the spectrum. You can listen to the sound clip here
