Disabled Artist Rebecca Dann's Self-Portrait Wins the Praise of Stephen Hawking

UK teen Rebecca Dann’s self-portrait caught the attention of esteemed physician Stephen Hawking. Hawking saw the piece as the judge of an art competition called Disability Talk in which he was a judge. The self-portrait, titled “I’m Fine,” shows the curvature of Dann’s back, the result of living with kyphoscollosis. The photograph won first place at the competition and was noted as “truly inspiring” by Hawking. The piece is a part of an entire series, also labeled “I’m Fine,” that Dann hopes will spark conversations about disabilities and will get more people involved in the disability community.
