GiGi’s Playhouse: The Only Nationwide Network of Down’s Syndrome Achievement Center

Twelve years ago mom Nancy Gianni made a promise to her infant and to herself, that she would change the way the world viewed individuals with Down syndrome. After her first support meeting, held in a hospital, for new parents of kids with Down’s Syndrome, Nancy thought “why is there not a place for us?” That’s when GiGi’s Playhouse was born. GiGi’s Playhouse is the only nationwide network of Down syndrome achievement centers. It started with one location in Illinois and is now in 31 locations plus one location in Mexico. The facility provides free results-driven programs for individuals of all ages, families and communities. They also work towards empowering individuals with Down syndrome and spreading not only awareness, but also acceptance.
